Vera is a Moldovan painter based in the UK whose work is deeply influenced by the cultural landscapes she has moved through. As an immigrant, she draws inspiration from the places she has lived in and travelled across, observing and recording the memories formed through moments of cultural encounter and transition. Working primarily with oil and acrylic, Vera is largely self-taught in these mediums. She holds an MA in Art and Visual Culture from the University of Westminster.
Vera began creating art regularly in the summer of 2020, and since then she has continued to experiment with a variety of subjects and styles while developing her artistic voice. Her current practice explores socio-cultural themes through portraits, landscapes, still life, architecture and cultural symbols. These visual narratives often reflect her experiences of unrecognition, isolation and unsettlement as a minor cultural identity. Through her art, she seeks not only to document her own journey but also to bring visibility to Moldovan and Romanian culture - often overlooked within Western-dominated global discourse.
